Coaches and Coach Placement

Team Evanston requires all coaches to be licensed by the Illinois Youth Soccer Association. We encourage our coaches to attain the highest certification level that they can and financially contribute to that goal.

Team Evanston follows a model where coaches are assigned to teams and are responsible for that team's development. These soccer professionals will coach all elements of soccer including practice and games. Our model is unlike some clubs that have “trainers” for practices and another coach, possibly a parent, at games.

Some of our coaches have more than one team. Generally we are able to schedule their games and practices so that there are not conflicts. While we expect that coaches will be at all events, there are occasions for conflicts that may cause a guest coach to participate with the team.

Our goal is for coaches to stay with a team for two years. However, this is a goal and not an absolute criterion. Coaches cannot stay with a team for more than two years without recommendation from the director of coaching to the Team Evanston board executive committee (president, vice president, team directors and treasurer) and rarely are granted.
