Hello Team Evanston families,
My name is Emma Mihevc, and with Caroline Moberly, we are helping former ETHS Girls Varsity Soccer Coach, Coach Succes, with his relief work in Haiti. That’s right, coach Succes is taking the season off and is in Haiti now doing humanitarian work with his church. The Evanston Review has a nice article on him this week. His first order of business is relocating the church’s orphanage, which supports forty kids.
With the many requests that families get, we know that it can be easy to ignore them all. But this one is a real good one, because we know that the group receiving the money is going to do great things with the donations. The Review article gives more information on Coach Succes and his church, the Faith Temple Church of God and Christ.
Caroline and I are trying to help in 2 ways, both of which will make an impact according to Coach Succes. You don’t have to live in Evanston to help in Haiti!
First, financial contributions are wonderful, and in donating, you know all of the money is going to a great cause with a super administrator. If every Team Evanston family gave $10, we would raise almost $6,000.
Second, at the end of the year we are going to collect uniforms for teams in Haiti to use. Team Evanston is doing a complete new uni for U9-U14 in 2010. Do you really want or need the old one? This donation cost’s nothing. Think of the excitement your child feels in getting a new uniform. Now think if they played in Haiti. More info on that later.
If you can make a financial donation, please make it payable to:
First Temple Church of God and Christ and mail c/o Team Evanston, PO Box 7060, Evanston, IL 60201. Please mark for Haiti Relief Efforts.
